Classic pitons for thinner cracks, Knifeblades and their bigger, longer brethren, Bugaboos, have precision-ground blades for a consistent taper and a hole in the thickest part of the head to reduce weight without sacrificing strength or durability. Sometimes dodgy placements can be improved by clipping these pins’ offset eyes for maximum torque.
