These PPE stainless steel Maillons are certified for use as protection and are intended for semi-permanent rigging (eg permanently attaching quickdraws to a project climb) or for work situations.

Maillons are more commonly used by climbers as a cheap alternative to a 'bail biner'. ie to be left behind when abseiling instead of a more expensive karabiner but most climbers choose to use the much cheaper, non-CE marked versions in either stainless or galvanised steel. See the separate entries
