Scottish Rock Volume 1 is a modern selective guide to the southern half of Scotland.
Well known activist Gary Latter has used his huge knowledge to produce a guidebook to the popular "crags" of the Cairngorms, Ben Nevis, Glen Coe and Ardnamurchan and much of what lies between and south of these headline areas. Basically, if there's decent climbing on it and it's south of the Great Glen, Gary at least mentions it. Refreshingly, as well as the whole gamut of trad, some of the splendid sport climbing is also covered. The guide uses the now standard system of clear photo-topos, scaled maps and text description to get you to, up and down the routes, all 1670 of them. Liberal use is made of action photos, many of them of first ascents.
Areas north of the Great Glen are covered in vol.2
